Week 4 A Day Philosophy

Who are Week4ADay?

Week4ADay is a not for profit Social Enterprise. Our mission is to support people with mental health issues to partake in and enjoy the benefits of work. We use education as a means to support people with mental health issues and promote social inclusion. Our approach is to assist the individual to use a series of "stepping stones" as the journey towards work and begin to the access the benefits of social inclusion. We have a range of health professionals with interest and experience in helping people to return to work.

What is Week4ADay?

The week represents our commitment to offer persons dealing with mental health issues a week of paid therapeutic work.

The day stands for a day, or part of a days work pledged by you at a price that you decide is appropriate.

How does Week4ADay work?

Week4ADay links the people who have offered to give their time with people who want to buy that time.

If you will give your time to pass on your knowledge and skills you can register here and pledge anything from as little as an hour of time, to talk about whatever you choose, in an area of their choice (e.g. Manchester).

The week4aday website lists your details here: Time Gifted

People who want to buy the time that others have pledged can contact the Week4ADay Central Office by email here: Book Time

Or you can phone to make a booking. Bookings will be taken for dates from September 2005 but you can contact us at any time, if we can help we will.

Week4ADay will confirm arrangements between the buyer and seller of the services. Week4ADay takes the first £200 (a weeks pay at the minimum wage) and uses this money to fund community based projects.

The first of these projects funded by socially minded individuals who have given their time will start in the Macclesfield area in the Summer of 2005.

Our projects will-

Support individuals with mental health issues who face the challenge of finding suitable employment. Our aim is to help people to access available resources and to work with them to develop employment opportunities in their local community.

Contribute to local communities by providing education and information to community groups, charities, employers, and networks to promote social inclusion.

How much we can do depends on you.
